18 Aug Radiator Services and Passionate Car Enthusiast Frank’s 1955 Karrier Rat Rod.
Frank Brookland, of Auto Radiator Southland many of our Radiator Agents are passionate car enthusiasts. Let’s see what Frank from Auto Radiators Southland has been up to.
Frank has built a 1955 Karrier Rat Rod. First, he took the cab off the truck, sanded it back to its original green paint. Once ready, he then dropped in a 5.4 Ford v8 on a Hilux chassis! Wow…
So, what was a 1955 Karrier?
Karrier is a British brand that produced vehicles for the British military.
This post-war vehicle with an American, Detroit look was built on the chassis of the original Karrier W3. Introduced in 1955 by Rootes Group of companies and designed by Walter Tysall, it was marketed as the cheapest new car [Check is it a car or Truck] on the British market at just £489. Karrier released a Rat Rod Hot Rod version of the Karrier 10 which was a light truck at the time.
But in Southland (New Zealand) Frank, our local agent, decided he would build his own.
Frank has always said, “No two jobs are the same – on any given day, you’re likely to see many agricultural radiators and industrial radiators being serviced in addition to commuter vehicles.
Marine heat exchangers and other niche applications are not a problem for our capable, effective, and trustworthy team.” Today we can add a 1955 Karrier Rat Rod to that list.
